Such a big boy already

I cannot believe that Kai is now 2 months old. He is growing like a weed. He weighs 12 lbs 15 1/4 oz and is 23 inches long. We survived getting our shots on the 23rd. I did not have to get any after all as I had my last inoculation in 2001. Simon was very brave and suffered a bit of a sore arm. Our little man did very well. He fell asleep soon after his shots (once in his car seat). Kai's shots were harder on Simon than him. Next time we will leave daddy at home.

Getting the low down from my cousin.

Kai is now 8 weeks old and has made friends with his cousins. Sophie is very fond of him. I have a feeling she will be a big influence in his life. Which should be intertesting as she is a very busy girl.

Kai has had his first experience with the flu. He was sick for several days and got a bit dehydrated. We spent an evening at the Stollery Children's Hospital where the fantastic doctors loaded us up with some Enfalyte to rehydrate the fella. Not that Kai was too pleased. I can confidently say that he hates the stuff. I don't think that it phased Kai too much being sick. It was very hard on me though. I did not sleep at all. I woke up with every noise, worried that he was vomitting. Surprisingly Kai slept very well during his bout of flu.

Next big first for us are Kai's 2 month immunization shots. Simon and I are going to be brave and update our immunization as well. All three of us are getting pricked on the 23rd. A family that cries together stays together.

6 weeks old and looking for the party

Our little fella is now 6 weeks old and he does not like to miss out on anything. Which means that he does not like to sleep during the day. We are lucky so far that he will sleep at night but he wants nothing to do with sleeping during daylight hours. (Which is why I am so behind in all my emails, photos and this blog.) He will sleep if we go for a walk or a drive. This is not so much fun during an Alberta winter. I am starting my new mom's group this week and I hope that I can get some tips from other mom's. He may not think that a nap is necessary but I do.

Kai is changing everyday. He has started to smile and will "talk" to us when we are playing with him. He is not a fan of tummy time but enjoys looking at the baby in the mirror. He has also become a very hungry hippo. It seems like we are constantly feeding him. It is amazing to see how much my son changes and develops with each passing day. I will admit that he has stolen my heart. And his daddy's too.
